I had the unique opportunity of working with a senior design team who were building an aircraft for an annual AIAA Design/Build/Fly competition. One of the things I was tasked with was building a MATLAB sensitivity analysis for the aircraft.
The sensitivity study was significant in determining design factors and competition strategies for the aircraft. I also designed the internal structure of a 30-inch wing on Autodesk Inventor. Different spars were used to resist the Clark-Y airfoil wing's spanwise bending loads with balsa wood and carbon fiber. The design was validated in Ansys and would span 72 inches from one wing tip to the other.
